Day 47 of Searching the Psalms

Please share your thoughts in the comments below each day so that we can
learn and grow together as we seek to know God and live justly.

Psalm 47 (ESV)

1 Clap your hands, all peoples!
Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
2 For the Lord, the Most High, is to be feared,
a great king over all the earth.
3 He subdued peoples under us,
and nations under our feet.
4 He chose our heritage for us,
the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah

5 God has gone up with a shout,
the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
7 For God is the King of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm!

8 God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne.
9 The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
he is highly exalted!

Comments

  1. This is a welcome reminder to perhaps gather together and spend an entire day singing, clapping, shouting, and playing music in jubilation, praise and exaltation of our God. ( a revival? )
    Only thing missing is maybe some feasting!

  2. Good morning! I've gotten awfully behind in my entries. Too many kids, too much to do, too many fires, Whoever Pharaoh is, tell him to let the people go b/c Covid, racial injustice, 2 So Cal fires are enough "plagues" for a lifetime. hahaha! What I find helpful with this Psalm is the reminder God is "King of the all the earth" and despite all of the difficulties we all face/I am facing, no matter the earth trembling or mountains shaking or oceans roaring, God is with us, He is our refuge, and He shall not be moved by any of it!
