Day 2 of Searching the Psalms
Please share your thoughts in the comments below each day so that we can
learn and grow together as we seek to know God and live justly.
Psalm 2 (CEV)
1 Why do the nations plot,
and why do their people
make useless plans?
2 The
kings of this earth
have all joined together
to turn against the Lord
and his chosen one.
3 They
say, “Let’s cut the ropes
and set ourselves free!”
4 In heaven the Lord laughs
as he sits on his throne,
making fun of the nations.
5 The Lord becomes furious
and threatens them.
His anger terrifies them
as he says,
6 “I’ve put my king on Zion,
my sacred hill.”
7 I will tell the promise
that the Lord made to me:
“You are my son, because today
I have become your father.
8 Ask
me for the nations,
and every nation on earth
will belong to you.
9 You
will smash them
with an iron rod
and shatter them
like dishes of clay.”
10 Be smart, all you rulers,
and pay close attention.
11 Serve and honor the Lord;
be glad and tremble.
12 Show
respect to his son
because if you don’t,
the Lord might become furious
and suddenly destroy you.
But he blesses and protects
everyone who runs to him.
Message 2:2: Earth-leaders push for position, Demagogues and delegates meet for summit talks... My prayer today is for our leaders to stop pushing for position, power, and recognition, and start showing respect for the Lord and the people of this country who are dying, homeless, hungry, sick and living in fear of the future.
ReplyDeleteAmen! Been feeling like God is calling us to dig deeper into intercessory prayer for "Kings" of Pain. What PK is preaching now is spot on with Psalm 2. We gotta pray for them to "be wise", fear God, turn back to Him, kissing the feet of God"(Ps.2:11). Come, Lord, hear the cries and prayers of your people for righteous leaders, like King Jesus, the Anointed one, the great King!
Deletehttps://www.akidsplayabout.org/ A dear friend of ours sent me this. It's free only today. It's ea kids play dealing with racism. As the kings of pain(Psalm 2) rage on, we need creativity to help us LOVE and maybe something from this play helps your children.
ReplyDeleteThis morning, our lead Pastor Madelyn reminded us of the great John Lewis, the "Conscience of the U.S. Congress", and the loss we feel over his passing. Praying for the next generation of great Black and Brown moral leaders in the USA to have a "double portion" of what He gave us.
ReplyDelete"He blesses and protects everyone who runs to him." May I learn to run and not stroll toward God.
ReplyDeletePsalm 2 (Sorry. I put this on Psalm 1 page yesterday)
ReplyDeleteWell this one had me singing Hande'ls Messiah after I switched from my Douay to the old King James. Why do the Gentiles ( nations) rage? Then and now?
In the Douay , it says they stand against Christ, in the KJ it says the annointed one ( which I believe is the Greek definition of Christ). Same difference. It makes sense that this is why people and/ or nations rage - they stand against Christ. It could be that they just don't know of Him, but I actually think that is not it. I believe that sadly there really are people that stand against Christ.
The final lines give me two really great guidelines for dealing with other's non-belief or "rage" (and even my own!!) #1 embrace discipline and #2 trust in Him.
Lord, help me to discipline my heart and my mind, my words and my actions with Your love. For" it is only love that lends value to our actions''(Faustina Kowalska ) Jesus, in you I trust.
yes, thank you for sharing how you are living the Psalms, this is great!
